Traditionalist conservatism

Traditionalist conservatism refers to political activism favoring traditional gender roles, religion, the nuclear family and monogamy, and it is often accompanied by a particular religious belief. Proponents of this position are called tradcons.

Within the incelosphere, traditionalists are commonly seen among blackpillers on incels.co. Some traditional conservatives do not engage much in religion or traditions, but only promote conservatism regarding marriage and sexuality.

Many in the incelosphere are opposed to traditionalist conservatism and use the slur tradcon when referring to it or related political activism.

Traditionalist arguments for incels

The most relevant insights from traditionalism to inceldom may be that in historical societies, even in hunter-gatherers, arranged marriages were much more often the dominant form of mating than free mate choice. Arranged marriages also last longer than normal marriages and arranged couples are just as happy or unhappy as other couples as arranged couples get used to each other over time. It remains an open question whether such arrangements can occur outside the traditionally religious context.

Since conservatives only report slightly higher life satisfaction and happiness, it remains dubious whether traditions yield much benefit overall besides satisfaction of basic sexual, affiliation and perhaps spiritual needs. Though conflict due to strictness, traditional practices, disease, family complications possibly might make it a zero sum for many. But a life with structure, however tragic, is likely preferable to rotting away. Order reduces the ways of doing bad things and may ensure a livable minimum, but also limits the freedom to explore and think.
