The failo effect is opposite of the halo effect, a term used in the incelosphere, likely coined by the YouTuber FaceandLMS[1]. The failo effect is also known as the horn or devil effect in the scientific literature. The failo effect states that an ugly person will be assumed to have an unappealing temperament, be less outgoing/extroverted, and have looser morals, plainly judged by his physical appearance.
The halo effect states that the perception of positive features (such as physical attractiveness) automatically leads to the perception of positive features (such as a good personality) even though they might not be there.
