Buttocks matter for physical attractiveness in both men and women, perhaps more so for women.[1][2]
The ideal male and female buttock has some muscle definition. The ideal female buttock has an additional layer of fat covering over the muscles making them more roundish. Black males prefer larger buttocks than white males.[3] Similar to the preference for female breasts,[4] buttocks are preferred to be round and firm, and ideally there are slight folds below the buttocks, the gluteal sulci or folds. In fact, female breasts may have evolved to mimic the buttocks.[5] Buttocks that shake when walking or dancing are oddly attractive. Roundishness, smoothness and shakiness are possibly ornaments that evolved by runaway selection.
