Christine Chubbuck is the most famous femcel (female involuntary celibate). A television news reporter in Florida, she killed herself by gunshot on a live news broadcast in 1974 at the age of 29 years.
Friends and family reported she had a history of depression and was also disappointed with her failure to find a boyfriend or husband (she was a virgin and never had more than two dates with any man). She had attempted suicide by drug overdose in 1970. Like almost all femcels, Christine was most likely a standardcel and/or extremely shy.
The news-taping of her suicide exists on various obscure websites and archives, but it is not very spectacular due to poor video quality.
