Reddit is an addictive website for sharing and discussing media. It consists of user curated subforums. People can vote links and comments to decide what is shown near the top for about one day. Users receive worthless points (karma) in proportion to the votes they receive.
A downside of the karma system, as noted by many, is that it tends to result in group think by effectively censoring views divergent from the mainstream via downvoting. Redditors are conditioned to crave the upvotes, and can easiest achieve this by parroting the latest mindless memes or by virtue signaling. The quality of larger subreddits is mixed to very bad. Some subreddits can be entertaining and useful though.
Incel-themed subreddits and bannings[edit | edit source]
Reddit hosted some of the largest incel forums, most of which have been memoryholed for "bullying" and "harassing" of women, presumably out of fear of bad advertiser relations and upon pressure of anti-incels.
Below is a list of prominent incel Reddit forums. In the archives on Archive.org, one can sometimes access /top/?sort=top&t=month or /top/?sort=top&t=all to see some of the top posts.
