Some say the method is ineffective in adults. Anecdotal reports have described mewing by pushing the roof of the mouth forward with the tip of the tongue as a cure for lisps, as well as a technique for noticeably improving voice and singing quality, and slightly improving facial attractiveness.citations needed Even in adults due to expanding the mouth, making extra room for the tongue, allowing for speaking without the tongue hitting the teeth at all, and improving air flow out of the nose and mouth. Also, anecdotal reports have shown mewing using the entire underside of the tongue pushing against the roof of the mouth (the final phase of mewing) improves the voice and singing quality even further then when just the tip of the tongue is used. At the cost of a noticeably greater inclination toward mouth breathing at night. Currently, however, this is entirely anecdotal evidence. One can remedy night time mouth breathing by simply taping the mouth shut.

Ultimate guide to proper mewing
1. Dominant Posture: Having dominant body, head posture and mewing are all correlated and to achieve the best results one must work at all of them. Dominant body posture is more beneficial overall than just mewing alone. when one has dominant posture the tongue posture improves drastically, also much more force and a lot more of the tongue gets on to the roof of the mouth. To achieve dominant head posture one must tilt their head up, to the point where the chin and jaw becomes protruding. Take note, that while dominant posture is healthy for the bones such as the spine. Dominant posture is also well, a dominance display, so beta males may want to skip this section.

Mew claims a dominant posture is essential for good results.citation needed Mewing is best performed starting out saying the letter N and getting a feel for that spot, feel for a small alcove on the roof of the tongue just above the teeth.
2. Mewing: To mew just means to have correct tongue posture in a sense. the point of mewing is to mainly support the head properly, fix posture and to help the, face grow naturally, as well as guarantee perfect teeth (if done early enough).
After a few months of pushing on that spot, the mouth will expand far enough to where one can slide the tongue on the roof of the mouth back into the throat. One needs to have one's head and chin held up high in a dominant position, to vertically align the mouth and throat, allowing for the entire underside of the tongue to lay on the (now vertical instead of horizontal) roof of the mouth and push forward instead of just with the tip of the tongue.citation needed

Mew also claims chewing (especially tough food) and certain swallowing techniques are part of proper mouth health.
Phase 1: When starting out the best way to do this is by saying the letter N and getting a feel for that spot, feel for a small alcove on the roof of the tongue just above the teeth. Simply push forward on that spot all through out the day. Phase 1 mewers, natural or trained will develop a distinct lower maxilla, due to the shape of the mouth being malleable, however only natural mewers will also have the protruded cheekbones, due to bone solidifying during adolescence and puberty. Visual example of phase 1 mewers here.
He claims, when the entire tongue is on the roof of the mouth pushing forward, the tongue acts as a barrier between the left side and right sides of the mouth. One must now symmetrically chew their food in reps. For example, 20 chomps on the left side of the mouth, 20 chomps on the right side of the mouth. Then place food on top of the tongue, then lift and throw the food down the throat.

The second step is to literally swallow without moving any facial muscles, a symmetrical forward facing sweeping motion when swallowing is acceptable as well. A surprisingly large amount of people swallow in conjunction with facial expressions, such as pursing the lips. Dr. Mew believes 85% of the general population at least do this, overtime messing up facial symmetry and harmony. When swallowing, the tongue should pick up and throw the chewed food down the throat in a symmetrical fashion. When swallowing liquids the tongue should not move at all and the lips should open but the jaw and teeth stay clenched. Let the liquid pour into the mouth through the clenched teeth. Obviously this takes some getting used too.

Phase 2: After a few months of pushing on that spot, the mouth will expand far enough to where one can slide the tongue on the roof of the mouth back into the throat (think of this like swalling one's own tongue). This is the whole point of expanding the mouth in the first place. As well as the hardest and most complicated part of the mewing process and probably 99+% of mewers never get this far, natural born mewers don't even go this far. In order to actually keep the entire tongue on the mouth roof (not just that alcove). One absolutely must have their head and chin held up high in a dominant position, to vertically align the mouth and throat, allowing for the entire underside of the tongue to lay on the (now vertical instead of horizontal) roof of the mouth and push forward instead of just with the tip of the tongue.

Completely pushing the palette forward using the entire tongue, allows for maximizing air flow out of both the mouth and nose leading to the most adult sounding, highest quality voice possible, although noticeably, a greater inclination toward mouth breathing while sleeping as well. This can be remedied by simply taping the mouth shut, before bed. Considering that mouth breathing leads to facial deformities, the palette forming the air flow barrier between the mouth and nose is likely to strike a balance between voice and facial aesthetics.

*Mewing using the entire underside of the tongue may cause mouth breathing.
