The momad syndrome is a portmanteau of the words "mom" and "dad" and is a theory describing the consequences and outcomes of a single mom raising a son. A single mom is a woman who raises children by herself and as such, ends up playing a paternal role as well. However, unless a woman has a combination of a depth-oriented high-IQ, an ability to overcome her solipsism, and regularly intermingled with several older as well as younger socially transparent male siblings, the woman won't really have the faintest clue how to raise a male.

Matriarchism[edit | edit source]

The presumed basis for the inclination for acceptance of momad household norms is society's belief that women are naturally wired to kindle their maternal instinct and thus should have priority in childcare rights etc. However in practise, the cultivation of momad norms results in matriarchist principles being normalized, which wouldn't be harmful to daughters under her care, but can be harmful to males under her care, especially if there are no other mitigating factors within this household such as father figure he regularly meets up with. However, even if such a father figure is extant, he will be useless if he himself buys into momad theory. Such a father figure would also be useless if he doesn't recognize the role he plays in said male's life, and thereby might contribute to the infantilization of such a teenage male.

Although modern western society isn't a full-on gerontocracy, there are many unnecessary gerontocratic traits within society that merits a person based on their age rather than their qualities. For example there's a age-threshold for running for office, and various other age-thresholds are increasingly normalized. Although these laws may not in and of themselves have earth-shatteringly negative consequences for society, the precedence this sets, and the inevitable conventionalisms it subsequently begets might entrench otherwise ambivalent social stances such as adultcentrism, helicopter parenting and adultism. In a society which respects both the physiological differences between males and females as well as innate psychological differences, a boy who is raised in a single mother household is more likely to be in god stead. However, in a society which accepts gerontocratic as well as momad traits, natural defenses against intrusiveness or attempts by a woman to intersperse or vicariously live her life through her son may be ineffective.

Female privilege[edit | edit source]

There are both legal and social features of society which magnify and amplify the side-effects of a momad syndrome-style upbringing:

Lexicology[edit | edit source]

Most males experiencing inceldom grew up in a home wherein a combination of the helicopter parenting style and the momad syndrome (single mother) type of household were extant.

Since the term momad is a blend of mom and dad, technically it is a gender neutral term, and as such, the roles could be reversed whereby a male parent plays the role of an overbearing parent with a disregard or ignorance pertaining to gender roles expected to be meted out by him.

Features[edit | edit source]

There are some African cultures which have a nuanced approach, as is evidenced by the popular African proverb "It takes a village to raise a child". On the other hand, in the west, this is not the case. As such, one feature of Momad Syndrome, is that with a woman is the sole head of the household, it is inevitable that she will have absolutist levels of influence within this household and thereby it is likely that feminine traits will be dominant, such as a preference for a higher household temperature, or notions such as conformity. There are several studies that show that men and women have different comfort levels with regards to temperature, with males being more comfortable with lower temperatures.[1] If the son had the benefaction of a male parent at home, it would be more likely for a compromise to occur pertaining the contrasting body temperatures of the males and females within the household. Many households have a central heating system which typically permeates the rest of the household, even if individual heaters within other rooms are turned off. Subsequently, such a higher temperature may inhibit the viability of studying or concentrating on other vocational acts for the males in the household. Even if the gender of offspring is even split in terms of numbers, the mother typically has the last say. Although the byproducts of physiological difference between the sexes are easier to allocate, there are also more abstract contrasts between the sexes which may also summon Momad Syndrome idiosyncrasies within a household.

The fact that males have a higher tolerance level for cold, does not mean that a blanket reduction of the thermostat is in order. The situation is more nuanced. For example, studies show that young males are more vulnerable to health issues related to coldness, showing higher fatalities in this regard. However, it appears that the writing is on the wall with regards to how constructive conversations pertaining to gender differences are as of the 21st century - not so.

Manosphere[edit | edit source]

In the manosphere, single moms may be the subject of prejudice because of how many women statistically become one. Often either because they got pumped and dumped by Chad, or because they cheated a beta male with Chad and divorced. Single moms often chooses to "settle down" and stop chasing men for looks on the sexual market, in the hopes of finding a beta provider whom will help raise other men's children. The genetic effect of regression toward the mean, (the offspring of Chad, usually being less Chady, even if the mom is Stacy.)[2]As well as the environmental, lack of a paternal figure is often harmful to young men, and many young men thus become beta males, soyboys, NEETs, Mentalcels and or social rejects.
