Even though the claim that the environment needs to be maintained for human survival has some merit to it, to avoid a generational conflict between younger and older generations, there is a trade-off to be made between ensuring current social harmony and creating a livable future of the offspring. This trade-off does not have a simple solution though due to the risks involved. Perhaps this conflict could be dismissed due to the uncertainties involved and the fact that the next generation will benefit from the prosperity that is being accumulated in the meanwhile.
Even though there is some merit to the claim that the environment needs to be maintained for human survival to avoid a generational conflict between younger and older generations, there is a trade-off to be made between ensuring current social harmony and creating a livable future of the offspring. This trade-off does not have a simple solution due to the risks involved. This conflict could be dismissed due to the uncertainties involved as long there is no rock solid alternative. The next generation will also benefit from the prosperity that is being accumulated in the meanwhile as long the planet remains livable.
