May seem like petty squabbling over semantics,  but a man that forgoes long-term committed relationships and engages in frequent casual sex is obviously not an incel by any definition of the term. Therefore, this qualifying statement is important, imo, unless you're seeking to fundamentally redefine the term 'incel'. :For the same reason we reached a conclusion of 15-30% inceldom in America among millennial men on the Demographics page, namely
* A study by Poortman and Liebroer that found that only roughly 4% of singles preferred their singlehood over being in a relationship.
* Only 1% of the population self-identify as asexual.
* Sex is regarded as the most satisfying and joyous experience and ~70% of men report "sex is essential to feeling good about oneself".
* Such reports are likely subject to social desirability bias, meaning men might not say they need sex to avoid violating sexual modesty norms and being perceived as shallow and sex-driven.

Those who prefer the more narrow definition of incel as 'without will' rather than 'without choice' would balk at this however.  We do use the wider definition of 'without choice' here simply because it is what was in the Donnelly Study and it eases conflict on a lot pages.William (talk) 19:52, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
:If a man can only get one night stands now and then they are incel imo.  Like Kyle Incel e.g. is incel by the 6 month metric.  As far as men who have sex regularly but forgo pairing up with anyone , I've never seen any statistics on them and I admit I don't think they exist enough to bother for making clarifications on that.  But if it's worth making the clarification go ahead and do it in detail.

When you made the clarification in the past it seemed like you were hinting you didn't believe in the broad definition of incel we use in the wiki, as 'without choice' rather than  just 'without will'William (talk) 19:59, 30 December 2019 (UTC)

:Added it back in with some clarification, but you may want to change itWilliam (talk) 19:56, 30 December 2019 (UTC)

:Sorry, I was more trying to clarify Binder's study, as one can avoid co-habitation and marriage with women while still engaging in casual sex or even having a girlfriend. I agree that most single men are not single by choice, they may even be mostly incel according to the Donnelly six month definition (or a longer one) as some research shows most men are not terribly effective at getting sex outside of committed relationships with women.
