The existence in the gay community of something called 'Gold Star Gays' is even among the LGBT crowd themselves, a lightning rod of controversy, and an oftentimes eschewed subject, may indicate that homosexuality is driven by failure with the opposite sex. According to Wikipedia, a '"gold star lesbian" is a lesbian who has never had sex with a man, and a "gold star gay" is a gay man who has never had sex with a woman." This implies that homosexuals by and large attempted to have relationships with the opposite gender, but due to incompatibility (in all likelihood a complete disparity in libido), switched over to the other side. The reason that this is a taboo subject in the LGBT community is because it implies that homosexuality may be driven by contempt for, if not failure with the opposite gender, which negates a lot the entire basis for LGBT's existence as a social movement; i.e., that they are 'born with it.' There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that the conflict between genders, namely between libidos, is responsible for a lot of the dissolution of heteronormative relationships. The fact that in social circles it is common for women to falsely claim they are 'bisexual' simply because they find men 'disgusting' (i.e., that men want sex, and they do not), or the fact that lesbian dead beath is the normative state of lesbian marriages while gay men have on average 1000s of partners, indicates that the natural evolution of libido disparities could possibly be homosexuality.

Former President Obama wrote letters while at Occidental College, presumably to a girlfriend, in which he mentioned having homosexual thoughts. He wrote that while he would never act on them, fantasizing about having sex with men helped him to escape the painful realities of life. This is a strange admission for a man with a girlfriend, so it could be assumed that they were in a non-sexual relationship (e.g., a dead bedroom), and that his sexual frustration and inceldom may have led him to wanting to escape into a realm where there was easy and constant sexual gratification - homosexuality. Again, due to libido disparities, it may be a result of men being unable to consummate with women, turning to homosexuality as a way to achieve sexual gratification.
