==Social constructionism vs progressivism==
[[Tradcon]]s like to conflate political progressivism with social constructivism, despite both being very different.  Social constructionism had it's first prominent philosophical proponents in the 1960s.  The 1960s was more associated with the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Left New Left], which was a political reaction against progressives and Marxists.  The progressive-era began much earlier. Progressives who argue that feral humans (who may have similar biological traits) can be socially engineered to behave differently by less feral humans are by definition not social constructionists.  Furthermore, progressives promoted eugenics<ref>https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2698847</ref>, the father of economic progressivism Maynard Keynes was a devoted eugenicist both before and after WW2<ref>https://books.google.com/books?id=qLCMCgAAQBAJ&pg=PA325&lpg=PA325&dq=%22progressive+eugenicist%22&source=bl&ots=-bFgwZc6_e&sig=ACfU3U2lDW5AiToLtbdfUn5pOkHPWQAryQ&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjn-uevp8HlAhWEVN8KHVruDZcQ6AEwBXoECAkQAQ#v=onepage&q=%22progressive%20eugenicist%22&f=false</ref>, environmentalist Madison Grant wrote a book about eugenics Hitler called "his bible", Woodrow Wilson racially segregated the government and defended the KKK<ref>https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2015/11/20/9766896/woodrow-wilson-racist</ref>, which all have an origin in biological determinism rather than just social constructionism.

That people who like political solutions vaguely associated with Keynes and environmentalism nowadays may often hate biological essentialism does not make progressivism fundamentally anti-science.
