The alpha male is often the kind of man whom everyone listens to when he speaks.
When the term "alpha male" is used in the [[dating]] sense, it often means a man who is sexually successful regardless of other factors, though this is disputed. It is possible for an alpha male to be sleazy, manipulative, aggressive, or abusive, but alphas are also often genuinely good guys because life is good for them and they have little to gain from competitiveness, rather they only gain and secure their status by maintaining alliances with betas.

It is possible under certain circumstances that alpha males (as defined by social status) are not [[Chads]], for example, [[Adolf Hitler]] was undeniably an alpha male, despite not being a Chad (some even speculate that he may have died a [[virgin]]).
