Antifa is undoubtedly an organized political movement in Europe, and has a long history dating back to the origins of Fascism itself, in Mussolini's Italy.  An oppositional anti-fascist movement surfaced against Mussolini in the mid 1920s, mostly anarchists, socialists and syndicalists (co-ops, worker strikes). This continued into Weimar Germany (where the term was coined) and after German reunification.  Later in Germany, antifa took on a more subculture and punk aesthetic, which was later seen among self-described Antifa around the globe.
