The defining and foundational aspect of involuntary celibacy is evident in the first word of the term ''involuntary''. By using capitalisation, it surreptitiously implies volition and agency in the predicament that incels find themselves in. In other words, such journalists are obfuscating the actual meaning of involuntary celibacy in an attempt at ignoring, removing, falsifying, or reexplaining its meaning, and isolating inceldom from the first word in its sum of parts: ''involuntary''. By using capitalisation, one implies an organization, meaning that the involuntary celibate has joined an organized group. This ignores that the word ''involuntary'' is synonymous with unintentional, and that for the majority of incels, they consider their predicament to be a condition and one another to be an unfortunate (and maybe even a socially disadvantaged) demographic.
